Frida and the Cesarean Operation

While in Detroit, Frida became pregnant again. Diego urged the idea of an abortion due to the face that he didn't want children. Frida considered abortion and went along with it as she did the previous one. Doctors gave her medications to help with the abortion but failed, and so she decided to keep the baby. The doctors led Frida to believe that she could keep the child to "full terms" but were unfortunately wrong. On July 4th, she suffered a misscarriage.

This painting symbolizes the "would be" in her life. It is an expression of both hope and fear. In the painting she shows the delivered baby, with her hopes shattered, she left the painting unfinished.
